The signature
109 villas and every single one has a private pool — no category roulette. Beach villas suit small kids best: sand at the door, a deck swing, a shaded gazebo by the shore. Overwater villas add a hammock by the pool and steps straight down into the lagoon, and the whole build is 2022-modern — big windows, clean lines, plenty of light.
Eight restaurants and lounges is generous for an island this size. Habitat handles relaxed all-day dining, Beach Shack does feet-in-the-sand pizzas and grills, and Origin — the overwater fine-dining room, all handmade pasta and sustainably sourced seafood — is the grown-up night out. The wildcard is Re:Fuel, a teens-only rooftop lounge with a hidden entrance designed just for them.
The lagoon is calm, shallow and beginner-friendly, with snorkelling straight off your overwater villa steps and a dive and water-sports centre serving the dozens of dive sites scattered around North Malé Atoll. Fair warning: this is a young island, so the house reef can't rival the outer atolls' — serious snorkellers should take the boat excursions.
Families with anyone from toddlers to teens, multi-generational groups, and first-timers who dread long transfers. If you're honeymooning and want hushed, adults-only seclusion — or you're a reef obsessive chasing a world-class house reef — book elsewhere; we'd point you toward Baa or Ari Atoll instead.
The experience
Most Maldives resorts tolerate children; Amingiri was engineered for them. Opened in 2022 as the Hilton flagship brand's Maldives debut, it's a thoroughly modern island — clean-lined villas, big glass, glassy pools — without the weathered-thatch nostalgia of older properties. The result is a place where parents don't spend the week apologising: kids are expected, catered for, and genuinely entertained.
The engine room is Krakengiri, one of the largest kids' clubs in the country, with its own mini splash park, children's play pool and a packed daily activities programme. Teenagers — the age group most Maldives resorts quietly ignore — get Re:Fuel, a rooftop lounge with a hidden entrance designed exclusively for them. And while all that's happening, the Amingiri Spa & Hammam runs proper hammam rituals, still a rarity in the Maldives.
Evenings scale up nicely across eight restaurants and lounges. Amingiri's biggest practical advantage is the journey: roughly 20 minutes by speedboat from Velana International Airport. No seaplane means no daylight-only cutoff, so families landing on late-evening flights go straight to their villa instead of paying for an airport-hotel overnight — and the transfer costs a fraction of a seaplane hop. With jet-lagged kids in tow, that matters more than any infinity pool.
Seasons follow the standard Maldives rhythm — December to April is the dry, calm-lagoon stretch; May to November brings short tropical downpours and noticeably better rates. Because this is a family flagship, the calendar tilts hard toward school holidays: Christmas–New Year, Easter and the summer break fill first and should be booked six to twelve months out, while shoulder weeks in November and late April are the value sweet spot.
